11 Things To Do This Summer

We thought it would be a great addition to our website to give our readers 11 fun-filled ideas (and 5 that didn’t make the list) to fill your heads for the summer season that’s upon us. Some might make you laugh. Some might make you cry. Others might get you arrested. Here’s to a great summer!

Keep a journal of what you do during the summer
Nothing says “summer fun” like actually taking the time to write your summer journey down on paper. Yes, real paper. Not your Smartphone or your iPad or your laptop.

Blow up balloons, put notes inside and hand them to complete strangers
We admit this is a little random but sometimes random is good.

Invent a new dance
We admit, this too, is a bit random but why not celebrate summer by acting and looking like a complete fool? We say, “Party on, man! Party on.”

Make a movie
Grab a few friends and the handheld and record a movie. And take a few tips from this guy. Oh, and have fun too.

Create a terrarium
Google it.

Build a time capsule
Convince family members and friends to help you build a time capsule by having them donate some of the things you’ve always wanted. “Yeah, uncle Bob, that Kareem Abdul-Jabbar rookie card you’ve been holding on to for the past 50 years, how ‘bout putting ‘er in the time capsule?” Suckers.

Throw a cultural heritage block party
Our only suggestion: Don’t take advice from Michael Scott on this one.

Go without TV for a day
As hard as it might be, try going TV-less (not topless) for an entire day. Yes, including Hulu, Netflix, etc, etc. If you start to see visions or hear random voices, consult your physician.

Make something from recyclables
Nothing says “summer” like a pile of garbage. We suggest that you make use of it and create to your heart’s content. Give it as a gift. Give it to your mom or your neighbor. We’re sure the recipient will love it, even if it is a bunch of junk.

Read a magazine
Need we say more? (Insert shameless plug here.)

Travel in time
We’re not really sure where this came from but, even if it’s not really in the cards, it’ll be fun to try and convince your friends and family that it could be possible.

And here are five suggestions that we were going to include but decided not to – due to time restraints and/or possible prison time:

  • Spend time with your grandparents
  • Create your own holiday
  • Host a Baywatch marathon
  • Officially change your name to the same name as your city’s mayor
  • Help an elderly person with house or yard work
  •
