Conversations – “The Man” (Episode 2)

Conversations is a new video series coming from Rethink Monthly. We’ve asked several individuals serious questions regarding faith, life, and culture. In this episode, we talk to A. J. Swoboda.

Dr. A. J. Swoboda (Ph. D., Theology – University of Birmingham, UK) is a professor of theology, biblical studies, and Christian history at George Fox Evangelical Seminary in Portland, Oregon. As well, he teaches at LIFE Pacific College, Canby Bible College, Eternity Bible College, the Episcopal Academy of Formation, and Concordia University. A. J. and his wife, Quinn, started and serve the Theophilus church community in the Hawthorne District of Portland, Oregon. Previous to this, A. J. served as a campus pastor at the University of Oregon. His creative doctoral research explored the never-ending relationship between the Holy Spirit and ecology in the Pentecostal and Charismatic traditions. In the Spring of 2012, his popular text Messy: God Likes It That Way (Kregel) and his academic text Tongues and Trees: Towards a Pentecostal Ecological Theology will be released. For fun, A. J. plays with his son Elliot, writes, wails on guitars, runs (mostly treadmills), plays Settlers, reads, and has a predisposition towards movies with Kevin Spacey in them. His website and blog is found at www.ajswoboda.com and you can follow him on Twitter @mrajswoboda.
